The Rolex 24 at Daytona opens the 2020 IMSA season, featuring an all-new Corvette, the return of Aston Martin and a surprisingly smaller grid than last year—there are only three manufacturers in DPi and GTLM.

I had tickets but I’m going to miss it this year for the first time in a while. There’s just too much going on at work and at home this year.

I’m probably going to spend a few bucks to view the HD stream and try to watch the whole thing from home

I wish I could go in person. Someday I’ll make it!

Plan on watching the whole thing live though. I have enough snacks here to feed a small army.

GTLM has been my main point of interest for a while now so it will be interesting to see how it goes this year.

I’m so ready for this season! Going to watch as much of the Rolex 24 as possible this weekend. Looking forward to seeing the C8.R in person  at Mid Ohio.

What is the streaming situation looking like this year? Is the imsa.tv stream still going to be geo-blocked in the US? I had decent success last year using a VPN to watch the imsa.tv stream, not quite full HD but good enough.

This being a 3-horse race (unless Ferrari somehow deploy  AF Corse talent to Risi), it’s a fight between the ‘Vette and the Porsche, with BMW getting the gut-check of a lifetime. It’d be a miracle to see that big boi win, but if it does, it might just make the season quite interesting.

Get yourself a battle station so you can have a live ticker as well as the stream, plus an other so you can head to the IMSA subreddit (r/USCR) and r/WEC Discord channel where all the deeper discussion will be had live.

It is blocked, but there’s a decent and affordable option. For 3 bucks per month or 20 for the while year you can get NBC sports IMSA on track pass. It is streaming there entire race uninterrupted. Scroll down to IMSA: https://www.nbcsports.com/gold/trackpass

I just really really really hope that it doesn’t have commercials or that the commercials are at least limited. After all, the $3 a month is Only IMSA

I already have NBC Sports access through my Dad’s Verizon info which will allow me to get the cable stream of the race with an appropriate for TV number of ads. $3 a month is basically $3 a race which is a bit much for me with the free options available.

I do wish we just got imsa.tv in the states. Ad free viewing for all 24 hours with Radio Le Mans commentary. It really was the best way to watch.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll just do a month of VPN then. What is the video quality like with a VPN?

I use the VPN built into the Opera Browser because it’s free and I’m lazy and that gets me an average of 720p. A lot of the time it just works at 1080p but sometimes it drops down a bit. With a better VPN you would probably get a rock solid 1080.
